Last week saw the exclusive launch of ‘i-am’ and Beyond the Valley’s INVERTED environments, a collection of flipped retail spaces spread throughout multiple venues across the Carnaby area for London Design Festival and London Fashion Week 2008.

The main spaces are two distinct INVERTED retail experiences, environments of polar opposites. Using the visual concepts of reversal and reflection, the environments will be presented in a way you will not be expecting. The spaces will showcase brand new fashion and design products in back-to-front and front-to-back versions, most of which will be created exclusively for the Festival. Guest collaborators include Hannah Holland (Trailer Trash/BBB), Tim Watkins (Illustrator for Kate Moss) and a selection of emerging designers.

2 Ganton Street, 2 Newburgh Street and 9 Newburgh Street, London W1

DATES
12th – 27th September 2008, 11.30 – 19.00 daily

Dublin Airport Authority run a successful retail business across a number of airports, but are now keen to expand and strengthen their offer, so have enlisted ‘i-am’ to work on the restructuring, rebranding and strengthening of the DAA retail brand. As creators of great brand experiences, ‘i-am’ are ideally positioned for this project, and are currently developing a unique, informative and engaging visual language for the brand. Dublin Airport is currently undergoing an exciting transformation and extension, with a new terminal building and a radical overhaul to improve their customer experience. Surface Showroom

One of the most innovative tile-retailers around (and a client of ‘i-am’) Surface opens a ground-breaking third showroom this summer on Islington’s Essex Road. On Thursday 17th July, the new 3,500 sq ft showroom opened its doors and welcomed customers to browse an incredibly extensive product range and more than a dozen roomsets featuring a dazzling array of ceramic, stone, glass, and even fur (fake of course) tiles.

Revamp Fashion

Unique fashion doesn’t normally go hand-in-hand with a conscience, until now…
This unique project grabbed our attention as soon as it came into the ‘i-am’ studio. Newly-launched fashion brand Revamp sources emerging design talent to create trendy, sustainable and environmentally-friendly garments and accessories from clothes donated to Cancer Research UK charity shop outlets. Revamp called upon ‘i-am’ to create a bold brand logo (see image above) incorporating the ideas behind their visionary brand. The finished mark is strong and distinctive, and of course works fabulously well on Revamp’s eco-friendly branded clothes-hangers.

‘i-am’ International

As you’ve probably guessed from the title, ‘i-am’ are expanding internationally and are currently establishing operations in a number of European cities. First up, the Turkish capital. Yes, the company is branching out into Istanbul, one of the truly great romantic cities. Previously Byzantium, then Constantinople, Istanbul now buzzes as Turkey’s cultural heart, financial center and good-time capital. Watch this space for the imminent unveiling of the new ‘i-am’ Istanbul site.

Domus

‘i-am’ are pleased to be working with Domus, one of the UK’s leading tile brands, to prepare a series of brand enhancement ideas designed to move the existing brand forward and ahead of the competition. Five years ago ‘i-am’ created a new Domus identity and vibrant brand personality that translated to all areas of their business, including branded binders, sample cards and signage. ‘i-am’ also created the ‘Surface’ sub-brand targeting the booming home market. Now, to help maintain Domus’s edge on the competition, ‘i-am’ are in the process of refreshing and extending the look and feel of the brand to keep them ahead – adding new design elements and devices.
